Family Roots Farm
Family-owned, Rooted, Appalachian tradition, Locally Loved, Homegrown
About Family Roots Farm
Nestled in the rolling hills of Brooke County, Family Roots Farm has been proudly owned and operated by the Hervey family for eight generations. A true Northern Panhandle staple, the farm makes the most of West Virginia’s four distinct seasons to create experiences that celebrate both heritage and harvest.
In winter, the Herveys tap maple trees to produce their signature syrup. Spring welcomes visitors to pick strawberries from more than 10,000 plants, while summer brings a bounty of red tomatoes and fresh produce sold to customers across the region. As autumn arrives, the farm turns its attention to harvesting and processing sweet sorghum, a fading Appalachian tradition that Family Roots Farm is helping to preserve as a natural, locally grown sweetener.
At Family Roots Farm, celebrating the seasons means more than tending crops. It’s about carrying on family traditions, supporting sustainable agriculture, and sharing the taste and spirit of West Virginia with the community.
